EBS wax (Ethylene Bis Stearamide)
Etilen bis-stearamid (EBS), is a powder, or flake form material used as an additive for many plastics
Etilen bis-stearamid (EBS), is available in powder, granule, or flake form. In the production of ABS, PC, PP, PVC, and PS products, EBS serves as an internal/external lubricant during injection molding, aiding in the easy separation of products from molds. Additionally, EBS acts as an antiblocking agent in the production of various polymer films like PVC and BOPP, providing a glossy finish to finished products. It functions as an external lubricant that reduces adhesion of the polymer melt to processing equipment parts, acting as a slip agent. It prevents the formation of air bubbles, thereby reducing the risk of the fish-eye effect. It can also act as a color pigment dispersant in the production of polymer color concentrates.
Apart from its use in the plastic industry, EBS finds widespread application, particularly as a sticky additive in asphalt production for bituminous materials. It enhances adhesion of bitumen to aggregate materials, increases the Softening Point of bitumen, and improves the compaction and workability of asphalt concrete mixtures. It is commonly used in formulations for cast asphalt concrete mixtures.
